A premium classic among grip waxes, Rex Blue has earned legendary status in Finland—its trusted formula has remained unchanged for decades. Known for its reliability in colder conditions, it serves as a universal low-temperature grip wax, offering excellent balance between grip and glide. The performance can be fine-tuned simply by adjusting the thickness of the wax layer—apply thinner coats as the temperature drops.
Tip: The colder the snow, the thinner the layer.
How to Apply Rex Hard Grip Waxes
-
Prepare the ski base: Mask off both ends of the grip zone.
-
Roughen the surface using 100-grit sandpaper to enhance wax adhesion.
-
Clean the area by wiping away dust and debris with paper.
-
Apply a base wax evenly, warm it with a heat gun or waxing iron, then smooth it with a synthetic cork.
-
Add the grip wax suitable for current snow and temperature conditions. Spread a thin, even layer and smooth it with synthetic cork.
-
Repeat the waxing step 2–4 times depending on snow hardness and the ski’s grip chamber height.
-
Remove masking tape and the skis are ready for use.
