The 12-foot length of the Current Designs Solara 120 helps maintain glide and paddling efficiency across calm bays, serene lakes, and local waterways. Designed to accommodate both adults and children, it’s the perfect all-around kayak for weekends at the cabin or spontaneous day trips.
Built from durable rotomolded polyethylene, the Solara 120 offers excellent performance, responsiveness, and impact resistance. Its shallow-V hull enhances tracking and delivers dependable stability with a playful on-water feel. The Swede-form design improves speed and maneuverability, allowing the bow to slice cleanly through waves rather than riding over them.
A spacious cockpit allows for easy entry and exit, especially for larger paddlers, while sliding foot pegs provide customizable support for users of varying sizes. The ergonomic seat tilts the entire seat pan upward, lifting it off the cockpit floor to promote a natural paddling posture. A lever-lock system—similar to a bike's quick-release—lets you fine-tune the seat pan height, with a locking feature that prevents unwanted motion in any direction.
To reduce fatigue, the seat pan includes a contoured lower-back cradle and is topped with thick, plush, non-absorbent padding. The articulated seat back adjusts vertically and horizontally, moving in sync with your stroke for added comfort.
For storage, a rear hatch offers enough room for overnight gear and features a rubberized, easy-seal cover secured with three flip-and-lock levers. Ample deck bungees keep essentials close at hand, and a front day hatch is perfect for quick-access items. Closed-cell foam bulkheads enhance buoyancy and keep stored gear from shifting while underway.
Additional features include a paddle keeper for hands-free convenience and toggled carry handles that make transporting the 59 lb. Solara 120 to and from the water easy and manageable.
