The Blizzard Rustler 9 is the narrower, more nimble sibling in the popular Rustler family, designed for those who want a "fun-first" all-mountain ski. While the Bonafide 97 is built for high-speed stability and power, the Rustler 9 is engineered for playfulness and versatility. It is a favorite among advanced to expert skiers who split their time between carving on groomers and hunting for soft snow in the trees or bowls. For the 2022-2023 season, it remains a standout for its approachable yet high-performance feel.
Key Features:
- Carbon Flipcore D.R.T. (Dynamic Release Technology): Unlike the full metal sheets in the Bonafide, the Rustler uses a specially shaped Titanal layer that is full-width underfoot but tapers toward the tip and tail. This provides rock-solid stability under the boot while keeping the ends of the ski light, twisty, and easy to pivot.
- TrueBlend Free Woodcore: A blend of Poplar, Beech, and Paulownia wood stringers. By placing denser wood in the center and lighter wood at the extremities, Blizzard creates a ski that feels balanced, snappy, and intuitive.
- Uni-Directional Carbon Fiber: Integrated into the tip and tail to reduce swing weight and stabilize the rockered sections, preventing the "tip flap" often found in wider, rockered skis.
- 94mm Waist Width: A highly versatile width that transitions quickly on firm snow but provides surprising flotation in several inches of fresh powder or spring slush.
- Rocker-Camber-Rocker Profile: Features a more pronounced tip and tail rocker than the carving-focused Phoenix or Alldrive series. This allows the ski to smear and surf in soft snow while the camber underfoot maintains a reliable grip on the way back to the lift.
- Sandwich Compound Sidewall: Full vertical sidewalls ensure that even with its playful personality, the Rustler 9 can still hold a serious edge when you lay it over on a groomer.
- Energetic and Forgiving Feel: The Rustler 9 is known for being "less work" than the Bonafide or Enforcer series. It rewards a creative, playful style of skiing and is exceptionally maneuverable in tight terrain.
