We buy or trade all kinds of firearms including handguns, rifles, and shotguns (modern or antique). We have you covered from one firearm to an entire estate. Bring your firearm to Joe’s Sporting Goods and talk to one of our gun shop associates for an estimate. If you have more than ten guns to sell, we will come to your location to review the condition of the firearms and follow up with a value. If you have any questions please contact one of our gun shop associates for assistance.
Please note: We do not buy muzzleloaders, air guns, BB guns, or pellet guns.
View our used gun listings online at GunBroker.com.
We do appraisals of collections and estates for insurance and selling purposes. If you have two guns or fewer to appraise, you can come into the store for a handwritten appraisal. For quantities of three to ten firearms, you must have an appointment. If you have more than ten firearms, we will send someone to your location to review the condition of the firearms and follow up with a valuation. The firearm value is determined by referencing Blue Book and comparing prices on third party websites.
QTY | PRICE |
1 - 10 | $10/ea |
11 - 20 | $150 total |
21 - 30 | $200 total |
31 and up | Call for pricing |
A formal letter head of appraisal is an additional $50
Consignment is another great way to sell your firearm. A minimum value of $1,000 is required for Joe's to consign it for you. We will help you come up with a reasonable price for the firearm by looking at reference material and comparing prices on third-party websites. It only costs $25 to put a firearm on consignment. If the firearm sells you get the $25 back along with 85% of the final sale price.
HOW TO PURCHASE A FIREARM IN-STORE
Joe's Sporting Goods carries a wide range of new and used firearms available for purchase in our store in St. Paul, Minnesota. Please note that we do not sell any firearms through our online store.
How to buy a Long Gun:
- The customer needs to supply a VALID government issued photo identification. A drivers license is the most common type. Valid means it is the customers most current address and that the license is not expired.
- When the customer comes in to the store to pick up their firearm, they need to provide their valid identification and fill out a 4473 form provided to us by the ATF.
- A call to the ATF is then done and a background check is performed.
- Once we receive approval from the ATF check, then we are able to sell the firearm to the customer.
How to buy a Handgun or Assault Weapon:
- Steps 1-4 above are followed for Handgun/Assault Weapon sales with two additions:
- Only Minnesota residents can “Pick Up” handguns or assault weapons in the store. Other states residents can purchase handguns or assault weapons and have them transferred to a FFL dealer in their respective state. From there, they must follow that states purchase laws.
- For every handgun/assault weapon sale, the customer must also provide either a “Permit to Acquire a Handgun” or a “Permit to Carry a Handgun.”
Assault Weapon Classification
In general, the AWB defines any firearm with a detachable magazine and at least two of certain other characteristics as an assault weapon.
For rifles, those characteristics included:
- Telescoping stock
- Pistol grip
- Bayonet mount
- Grenade launcher
- Flash suppressor
For shotguns:
- Telescoping stock
- Pistol grip
- A capacity to hold more than five rounds
To protect ourselves from misidentifying an assault weapon properly, we classify them using only one of the above characteristics.
All firearms purchased from Joe’s Sporting Goods, NEW or USED, are covered by a lifetime warranty starting June 1, 2015. We will repair or replace, at our discretion, any firearm purchased from Joe’s Sporting Goods for as long as it is owned by the original purchaser. This warranty is not transferable.
*Joe’s Sporting Goods assumes no responsibility for product malfunction or for physical injury or property damage resulting in whole or in part from criminal or negligent use of the firearm, improper or careless handling, unauthorized modification, use of defective or hand loaded, reloaded or re-manufactured ammunition, or customer abuse, neglect or misuse.
**Gun cleaning is not covered by the lifetime warranty. Any firearm brought in with a malfunction that is solved by a gun cleaning will be classified under negligent use of the firearm and will not be covered by the warranty.
